Avis E. Smart, 90, a resident of Chambrel in Williamsburg, died on January 25, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew R. Smart, and her sister, Geneva Moran.

A native of Martinsville, VA, Avis moved to Norfolk with her husband during WWII and continued to reside there for 55 years, moving to Williamsburg in 1999. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Norfolk. She loved games, including cards and dominoes, and became the honorary game coordinator at Chambrel. Her family remembers her as one who loved helping people in need.

She is survived by her son, Randy Smart and his wife, Carol, of Williamsburg, VA; her grandchildren, Stacey Smart of Richmond, VA, Scott Smart of Raleigh, NC, and Mary Catherine Smart of Williamsburg, VA; and her sister, Venie Brown, of Holland, VA.

A service of remembrance will be held at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home, 103 Clearview Drive, Martinsville, VA 24114 on Sat., Jan. 28, at 11:00 AM, with interment to follow at the Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville.
