Baker, Louis M. "Sonny", 83, of Sandston, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Baker. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 59 ½ years, Doris L. Baker; daughter, Cathie Franklin (Ronnie); grandsons, Chris Jackson and Curtis Franklin. Sonny is survived by brothers, Linwood "Buddy" Baker (Liz); and Robert "Bobby" Baker (Carol); and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Sonny faithfully served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a long-time employee of Otis Elevator with over 20 years of service. Sonny was a jack of all trades and enjoyed woodworking but he especially loved dancing at the Elko Community Center and spending time with his family. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. The family will receive loved ones and friends on Sunday, January 15, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home located at 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue. A graveside service will be held Monday, January 16, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the charity of your choice.
