Albert Royston McBeth, 89, of Williamsburg, VA, passed away on Father's Day, June 17, 2012 surrounded by family.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, of 65 years, Margaret Wolford McBeth, who passed away in June 2011.
Survived by their four children, Kathy (McBeth) and Pete Dodson of Bridgeport, WVa, David and Joyce McBeth of Fort Mill, SC, Jon McBeth of Aberdeen, NC, and Michael and Elaine McBeth of Williamsburg. Mr. McBeth is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Albert attended Penn State University in State College, PA where he met "local girl" Margaret in September 1942. His studies were interrupted while Albert served in World War II, landing in Normandy on D-Day Plus 6 with Battery C of the 738th Field Artillery Battalion. After the War, Albert returned to Penn State to complete his degree and marry Margaret.
Albert's career as a forester initially took them to Canada, but the McBeths lived in North Carolina for over 45 years, raising their children in Riegelwood, NC. Albert retired from Federal Paper (now International Paper) as the Assistant Pulp Mill Superintendent. Before moving to Williamsburg in 2004 to be close to their son, the McBeths lived in Hallandale, FL for several years.
On Saturday, June 30, 2012, family will receive guests in the Stevenson Fellowship Hall of the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, 215 Richmond Road, Williamsburg, VA at 10 a.m. Services will be in the Sanctuary at 11 a.m. A graveside service will follow at the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Williamsburg.
