Carter, Josephine Elise, 85, of Richmond, VA, died May 6, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Armistead T. Carter, Jr. She is survived by a daughter, JoAnne Christman; two sons, A.T. Carter, IV and Paul Wesley Carter; ten grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Josephine was a member of St. John Council of Woman.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2012 from 12 to 8 PM, with family receiving friends from 5 to 8 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23231. A service will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, May 10, 2012 with burial to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
