As pastor of Blacksburg Christian Church for the past five years, I feel as though I knew Mary even though I had never met her. Evelyn McPherson (Mary's sister-in-law) and I, on many occasions, have discussed Mary's love and interest in Blacksburg Chistian. Mary on many occasions has made financial contributions to the church either toward a special fund or simply a love gift. In 2010 she made a contribution to which I responded with a note of thanks. Evelyn said it pleased Mary so much to hear from her church. I am sure it would have made her very happy to have any memorial gifts go to the church she loved so dearly.

Aunt Mary will be missed by everyone in the extended McPherson family. I remember back when I was child and we would visit Aunt Mary and Uncle Wicky and often go fishing on the James River. Aunt Mary and Uncle Wicky always seem to have a strong relationship with each other. Now, after so many years, Mary can again joint Wicky. We will all miss Aunt Mary and cherish the many memories that her 95 years have brought to all of us!
