Susan Jane Yost Calver, 71, died on February 2, 2012 in the Consulate Care Center after a courageous battle with two forms of dementia. Susan was loved by all of her friends and family and known for her loving, caring, and easy-going demeanor.

She was born April 15, 1940 and was preceded in death by her parents, John and Madge Yost of Farmington, WV. She grew up in Farmington and furthered her education by achieving a nursing degree in 1961 and was principally employed as a critical coronary care nurse in various hospitals in West Virginia and North Carolina.

Cherishing her memory are her loving husband of 23 years, Dr. Richard A. Calver of Williamsburg; son, Mark Fortney and wife, Pam and grandchildren, Heather, Jessica, and Ashley of Brunswick, OH; daughter, Sherry Skinner and husband, Dean and grandchildren, Dylan and Elise of Sagamore Hills, OH; son, Alan Fortney and wife, Janie, and grandchildren, Zachary, Irisa, and Skylar of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Carol Godby of Fredericksburg, VA; sister, Rebecca Yost of Durham, NC; and mother-in-law, Catharine Bryan of Bridgeport, WV.

For 23 years she and her husband were an inseparable couple with many activities and interests. She was a member of the Woman's Club of Williamsburg and was Club Member of the year in 1990. She enjoyed her home and crafts and being with her family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 6 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd, Williamsburg. Expressions of condolence may be offered to the family prior to the memorial service from 12:00-1:00 PM. Online condolences may be expressed at www.nelsencares.com.
