William "Bill" J. Crowder Sr., 54, of Sandston, VA., departed this life on Tuesday, July 31, 2012. He was a Senior Branch ATM technician at Diebold, Inc., where he was employed for 33 years. Bill was also a U.S. Army veteran and retired National Guard. He was most happy when he was spending time at the "rivah," driving his yacht, riding his jet ski, fishing with his best friend and father-in-law, "Pop," and spending time with his children, whom he was so very proud of. He loved his Lord and was always so full of life; he will be dearly missed by those who loved him. He was preceded in death by his father, William H. Crowder; and his mother-in-law, Anne H. Thurston. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Catherine T. Crowder; together they were inseparable. He is also survived by his daughter, Brooke A. Crowder; son, William "B.J." J. Crowder Jr.; mother, Mildred T. Crowder; brother, Mark A. Crowder; father-in-law, Willard "Ben" Thurston; two sisters-in-law, Sherrie T. Melton (Kenny), Susan T. Pendleton (Tracy); and two nieces. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home & Crematory, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va., 23231. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 4, at 11 a.m. in the Nelsen Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
